Dear Squawkers,

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be making headlines for the next couple of weeks because the Invictus Games are kicking off in Vancouver Whistler on Saturday 8 February. Good timing, too, because throughout their relationship, the Invictus Games have always been where Harry and Meghan shine the brightest, and the Sussexes are working on a reset, building on the momentum of Harry’s recent legal victory against another UK tabloid and looking ahead to the launch of With Love, Meghan on Netflix.

So with that in mind, my long overdue thoughts on Harry and Meghan and the Vanity Fair cover story that came out a few weeks ago. There were some Squawkers who didn’t care for the article, thought it was a hit piece. Others were more neutral. I’m not here to defend it or support it or tell you how to feel about it or change your mind. All I’m sharing is what my personal takeaways were, but first some background information because there were questions about how the reporting came together. Since I was quoted in the article I can tell you how that worked from my perspective.
