What gets me about this situation is that he seems to have grossly overestimated his own appeal. A lot of the general good will people had for him wasn’t about HIM or even the Jonas Brothers, it was about HER. People liked Sophie, thought she was cool, and were willing to like him because they were seemingly happy and in love and settled.

I love that in the face of all of Joe Jonas' PR stunts, Sophie didn't say a word the entire time and let that blow up in his face. And by appearing with Taylor Swift, she continues to not have to say a word. For Joe to say anything now in response would only make things worse for him.

What I love about this is women supporting women. It's Allyship. We've been conditioned for many generations to be jealous of one another. That's changing dramatically and quickly in the latest generations of women, and I love it.
As a gen X woman I never put much thought into supporting businesses run by women, etc. I also didn't think about specifically supporting women in the workplace. Now I'm much more conscious of the choices I'm making personally and professionally to give other women a hand up, a shoulder to lean on, or a supportive voice. The Taylor/Sophie example is small in many ways, but yet so huge as an eye catching example of female support. I'm dually impressed, hats off to Taylor and gods speed Queen of the North. I think you're rising above the noise gracefully and powerfully!

She was literally onstage at the VMAs last week accepting an award with Rina Yang, who is the cinematographer for her music videos. She hired a young, up-and-coming female producer named Elvira to create remixes of a few of her hit songs. She's worked closely with female songwriters, and Laura Sisk (her vocal engineer) was literally onstage with her when she accepted her most recent Grammy for Album of the Year. Not to mention, the openers for her Eras Tour are all woman, except for her former back-up dancer turned singer who she wanted to support.
I feel like this weird narrative around Taylor being an unredeemable "mean girl" is a lot of projection from people who feel like she reminds them of her high school bully or something. I acknowledged Bad Blood was over the top, but she apologized and made amends to Katy. What more do people want for her to atone for her mistakes as a young woman? (And yes, the backup dancers were the public-facing reason for the feud, but if you read Katy's comments circa 2013, you can get a sense that that was more the straw that broke the camels back, rather than the catalyst, IMO.)

This might be off-thread since it is really more about the divorce itself but I'm sooo curious about the timing of everything - with them buying a house in December, still planning a move as late as the spring/early summer, and then "getting into a fight" in August and suddenly Joe is filing for divorce. I suppose it's possible that they are just pulling the plug because there had been longer term issues and the separation while she was filming/he was on tour was evidence that time apart was better than time together, BUT, the conspiracist in me says that something else was clearly going on (e.g., another relationship) and someone found out in August - prompting the divorce proceedings. Tbh I think it could go either way, but I find the way Joe's pr team was trying to get out in front of the court of public opinion to be suspicious that he was actually the one in the wrong.
