It was a trip finding these in my archive - and not a digital archive! These are scanned photos. Like I have the originals on photo paper!

Best Supporting Actor might be the most competitive acting category this year. RDJ, Gosling, Mark Ruffalo, Colman Domingo, Matt Damon, De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Jacob Elordi (two chances), Willem Dafoe (two chances), longer shots Charles Melton, Glenn Howerton, Dominic Sessa, and we still haven't gotten to some films floating with unconfirmed December dates. We will be TALKING about these guys!

I think Ryan G was born to play Ken, and maybe if he wins for that we might get more fun performances nominated instead of just like EPIC STRUGGLE performances. Like, this is just me, but I’ve watched Barbie 3x and I’ve never seen the revenant. I get that I’m basic.

OMG thank you for saying this. Because it also applies to comedy. Comedy is hard! Comedic performances are underrated! Everyone thinks that only sad and trauma performances deserve Oscars but it's a high degree of difficulty to play a character that makes people laugh. And it's incredibly frustrating that within the industry, this isn't given the gravitas that it deserves.

And characters like Ken where you simultaneously laugh, and care, and hate? Brilliantly written and acted.

For me, the one tiny redeeming quality of the Golden Globes (issues are rampant as we know) was the separation of Comedy vs. Drama. Totally agree with your take that we revere comedic performers less than dramatic performances. Both are hard in different ways and deserve to be recognized!

Of course, people play games with the categories, and the GG organization is so problematic, so it's certainly not perfect by any means.

All the nominations for Barbie! I’m interested in seeing Maestro because I love Leonard Bernstein.

Thanks, Lainey, for sharing your experiences with actors on the red carpet. Ryan G seems like he can laugh at himself.

I’m STILL furious with Jake Gyllenhaal for his asshole behaviour. Taylor Swift delivered the best karma in her “Fuck the Patriarchy” keychain line. Divine justice. I strongly feel that JG would enjoy hanging out with Kendall Roy. Roman would verbally eviscerate Jake.

Oh my gosh I know! I had always enjoyed Jake and his movies but ever since Lainey described that ridiculous encounter with Jake on the red carpet years ago and just how condescending, gaslighty, rude and just what downright jerk he was, that is ALL I think about when I see him!

Exactly!

And I will forever remember Domenica Feraud's piece about her experience with him, and his producers, on a Broadway set enabling and encouraging his emotional manipulation.

That was a brilliant piece. Terrifying, too. That level of entitlement knows no bounds.

Jake G is really talented but I can’t forget Lainey’s story about her interview with him. No amount of talent or success should stop someone (who was doing press to promote their work) from acting respectfully to people.

Pressed send to early- I get that I’m basic, but we should equate equal weight to the difficulty of playing Ken because it could easily come off TERRIBLY.

I hope that you all elaborate on the story of being hated on by Jake Gyllenhaal now that you can share more on here @lainey! We are here for it. I tell everyone what an asshole he is because of how he treated you.
